Course Description

Sex under the Influence. This course is based on the book Sex Under the Influence: Understanding and Healing from Sexualized Drug Use written by Dr. David Fawcett. 

The book, published in 2024, provides a comprehensive look at the problematic combination of drugs of abuse and compulsive sexual behavior. 

Sex Under the Influence is written for the lay person who is struggling with this issue. However, it provides an in-depth look at problematic sexual behavior and its combination with drug use. It is detailed enough to offer therapists a great deal of knowledge and insight into how to work with individuals struggling with these addictive behaviors.

The book will need to be purchased separately from the course. A link is provided on the first lesson, along with an excerpt.

Learning Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Understand what problematic sexualized drug use is
  2. Learn about the foundations of addiction
  3. Understand how drug use and sexual arousal integrate to create sexualized drug use
  4. Learn fundamental recovery tools for working with sexualized drug use
  5. Learn about creating intimacy and healthy sexuality as part of recovery
