NBCC ACEP: 7250
Credit Hours: 1 Hour/1 Credit

Sexual Addiction and Pornography Addiction are becoming increasingly accepted addiction struggles in the lay community. As such, therapists are seeing increases in clients coming to treatment for these issues. As sexuality is a complicated and personal topic, it is imperative that therapists treating these individuals have a solid understanding of Problematic Sexual Behavior in order to guide the clients down a helpful path.
This course will help therapists understand the concepts of sexual addiction, out of control sexual behavior, moral incongruence, erotic conflict and perceived pornography addiction. It will also provide some basic treatment guidelines for each potential underlying cause of the problematic sexual behavior.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will be able to identify the Compulsive Sexual Behavior ICD-11 diagnostic criteria.
- Participants will be able to understand the differences in treatment philosophy between sexual addiction and out of control sexual behavior models.
- Participants will be able to define moral incongruence and understand its role in perceived pornography addiction.
- Participants will be able to define an erotic conflict.
