Presenter:Dr. Jennifer Weeks

Course Description

An image representing sexual abuse prevention. Close up photo of a woman's face, the lower half covered in white cloth, her left eye appears to have a tear welling in it.

This research study examines the prevalence of (CSA) and makes inferences about what child sexual abuse prevention efforts work and which need improvement.

It draws from a large survey of Australians and breaks down CSA based on age cohort, as well as the characteristics of the perpetrators.

It also looks at trends over time in an effort to infer effective prevention efforts, as well as areas where further CSA prevention work is needed.

Learning Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Learn how perpetrators of CSA differ based on the gender of the victim.
  2. Come to understand how the characteristics of the most common perpetrators of CSA have changed over time.
  3. Learn how CSA prevention efforts need to be expanded based on contemporary data.
