Course Description

The landscape of digital child safety is undergoing a critical paradigm shift, necessitating a move from the reductive “stranger-danger” model toward a sophisticated, data-driven understanding of how sexual imagery is generated and weaponized within adolescent social ecosystems.
This study reflects the changes to the Image Based Sexual Abuse environment and proposes a framework for conceptualizing IBSA.
This is an accredited course designed for Licensed Professional Counselors to earn Continuing Education Hours, or LPC CEHs
Learning Objectives
Course participants will come to:
- Understand the transition from the restrictive “child pornography” label to the broader frameworks of Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM/CSAI) and Image Based Sexual Abuse (IBSA), focusing on the shift toward recognizing the ongoing harm to children and the recording of in-person abuse.
- Differentiate between the prevalence of youth-produced and adult-produced materials.
- Understand the proposed perpetrator framework to improve case classification, distinguishing between adult dynamics and juvenile dynamics.
