This research study assessed the relationship between the type of sexual education a woman received in school and her use of pornography. 

Little research has been conducted on women’s pornography use as it was often assumed that women did not consume pornography. 

As it is now fully acknowledged that this is not true, researchers are looking at women’s pornography use in terms of women’s sexuality and sexual health.

Sexual aggression continues to be a problem in our culture. This study looks at sexual narcissism to see how it is associated with sexual aggression strategies used by individuals who engage in different types of sexual aggression. 

The study included male and female college students who are asked to complete measures relating to both Sexual Initiation Strategies and Sexual Narcissism. It then discusses how sexual narcissism and sexual aggression are related as well as how this information can be used for prevention of sexual assault.

Often, in the treatment of Compulsive Sexual Behavior, clients are advised to engage in an abstinence period from pornography or all sexual activity. Despite a lack of data to support the assertion, this is often seen as an opportunity to “reset” the dopamine pathways.

This study, using a randomized controlled design, sought to assess the effects of a 7-day period of abstinence from pornography use in people who both did and did not have high levels of problematic pornography use.

The study reports findings on the effects of this sexual and pornography abstinence period on craving, affect and withdrawal symptoms.

The Betrayal Bind is a new publication by Michelle Mays. It deals directly with the trauma of people who have experienced infidelity in a relationships. 

The heart of the book addresses betrayal trauma using an attachment theory perspective. We learn how attachment theory shapes our relationships and our own behavior in relationships. 

Additionally, the book addresses the emotionally, psychological and sexual injuries of the betrayal from the perspective of attachment. 

Finally, the author presents an attachment-based treatment model for working with and through this betrayal trauma.

Current research is working to provide increased knowledge on the topic so that practitioners do not end up being labeled as mentally ill when they disclose their sexual preferences. 

This publication is both a literature review as well as a qualitative analysis of the motives for engaging in BDSM from the practitioners themselves. 

This study will increase the understanding of therapists when working with clients and move them towards being kink aware.
